O campus da ULS Santa Maria acolheu entre os dias 12 e 14 de novembro o 10º Encontro Anual da Rede Europeia de Referência para Anomalias Craniofaciais e Otorrinolaringológicas Raras – a ERN CRANIO.
A ULSSM é membro fundador e a única unidade portuguesa a integrar a ERN CRANIO, um reconhecimento da nossa diferenciação e excelência no tratamento de patologias complexas como craniossinostoses, fendas do palato e fendas craniofaciais, malformações congénitas e sindromáticas do crânio e da face e anomalias odontológicas.
Este encontro internacional reconhece a elevada diferenciação das equipas multidisciplinares da ULSSM, que incluem os Serviços de Neurocirurgia, Cirurgia Plástica e Reconstrutiva, Estomatologia, Otorrino, Anestesiologia Oftalmologia, Imagiologia, Genética Médica e o Departamento de Pediatria.
Uma reportagem da TVI/CNN Portugal sobre o encontro destacou o trabalho das nossas equipas na área das Craniossinostoses. Só no ano passado foram diagnosticados 75 novos casos em Santa Maria.
A ULS Santa Maria entre a vanguarda da discussão e partilha de práticas clínicas avançadas no diagnóstico e tratamento das anomalias craniofaciais raras, garantindo o melhor tratamento para os nossos doentes.

It was with profound pride that the ULS Santa Maria campus hosted the 10th Annual Meeting of the European Reference Network for Rare Craniofacial and ENT Anomalies — ERN CRANIO.
ULSSM is a founding member and the only Portuguese unit to integrate ERN CRANIO. This recognition underscores our differentiation and excellence in treating complex pathologies such as craniosynostosis, cleft palate and craniofacial clefts, congenital and syndromic malformations of the skull and face, and dental anomalies.
This international meeting is a testament to the highly specialized work of ULSSM’s multidisciplinary teams. These teams include the Services of Neurosurgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Stomatology, Otorhinolaryngology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Imaging, Medical Genetics, and the Department of Pediatrics.
The TVI/CNN Portugal report on the meeting highlighted the work of our teams in the area of Craniosynostosis. Just last year, 75 new cases were diagnosed at Santa Maria.
ULS Santa Maria is at the forefront of discussion and sharing advanced clinical practices in the diagnosis and treatment of rare craniofacial anomalies, ensuring the best possible treatment for our patients.
